What Counts as a Dental Emergency
If something feels wrong with your teeth, mouth, or jaw, it's worth a call. Some situations that typically need same-day care:
Severe or persistent tooth pain that isn't going away on its own. A broken, chipped, or cracked tooth. A tooth that has been knocked out or partially dislodged. A lost filling or crown that is leaving a tooth exposed. Swelling in your gums, jaw, or face. An abscess or infection you suspect is spreading.
When in doubt, call us and describe what's happening. We can help you figure out whether it needs to be seen today.
Sedation Options for Emergency Visits
Dental emergencies are already stressful. If anxiety is part of what makes dental care hard for you, we can help with that too.
Dr. Stinnet offers conscious sedation options including nitrous oxide and oral anxiety medications that take the edge off without putting you fully under. You stay aware and responsive, but relaxed. If sedation would make your emergency visit easier, just mention it when you call and we will talk through your options.
What to Do Before You Come In
A few things that can help while you're waiting to be seen:
If a tooth has been knocked out, handle it as little as possible and try to keep it moist. Milk works. Do not scrub it. If you can reinsert it gently without forcing it, do that. Time matters with knocked-out teeth, so call us immediately.
For tooth pain or a broken tooth, over-the-counter pain relievers can help manage discomfort in the short term. Avoid very hot, cold, or sweet foods and drinks on the affected side.
For swelling or signs of infection, a cold compress on the outside of your face can reduce swelling. Do not ignore a spreading infection. These can become serious.

We are in-network with Delta Dental. If you have another plan, we can help you understand your options before you leave.
We offer CareCredit, too - a financing option that gets the financing for the care you need immediately! -
No. We welcome new patients for emergency visits.
-
Not always. Persistent pain, sensitivity that won't go away, or swelling you can't explain are worth checking out even if nothing looks broken from the outside. A quick exam can tell you a lot.
