Same-Day Crowns in Telluride

Your smile has impact. It plays a role and influences the way you move through the world!

The way you perceive yourself matters. A smile you're comfortable with changes how you greet people, how you laugh, whether you let yourself be photographed, whether you speak up in a meeting or hold back. It affects how others perceive you and, maybe more importantly, as I said, how you perceive yourself. That's not a small thing. And it's exactly why a damaged or broken tooth is worth fixing properly.

A crown is one of the most reliable ways to do that. It covers what's left of a compromised tooth, restores it to full function, and when it's done well, it looks completely natural. At Elevated Dental, we've been placing crowns for a long time, and we offer something that makes the whole experience a lot easier: same-day crowns, completed right here in our Telluride office.

Same-Day Crowns: One Visit, Done

Most dental offices still send crown work to an outside lab, which means two appointments and a temporary crown in between. We do things differently.

Using in-office 3D scanning and CEREC milling technology, Dr. Stinnet can design, mill, and place your permanent crown in a single visit.

After your tooth is prepared and scanned, the crown is custom-designed and then milled right here while you take a break, step outside, or just watch it get made if that's your thing. Once it's ready, Dr. Stinnet checks the fit, adjusts it to your bite, and cements it in place. You walk out with a finished crown the same day you came in.

For anyone making the drive from Montrose or Ridgway, this matters a lot. One trip instead of two.

What Are Crowns Made Of?

Not all crowns are the same material, and the right choice depends on where the tooth is, how visible it is, and how much pressure it takes when you chew.

Porcelain and ceramic crowns are the most natural-looking option and are typically used for front teeth or anywhere your smile is visible. Porcelain-fused-to-metal combines a strong metal base with a tooth-colored exterior, a solid choice for back teeth that need durability without sacrificing appearance. Full gold crowns are the most durable option available and work well for molars, though they're less commonly requested these days.

Dr. Stinnet will walk you through the tradeoffs for your specific situation so you can make a call that actually makes sense for you.

When Does a Tooth Need a Crown?

Crowns come up more often than people expect. They're typically recommended when a tooth has:

Lost too much structure to hold a filling on its own, cracked or fractured under pressure, been through a root canal and needs protection, worn down significantly over time, or become too damaged or discolored to restore any other way.

If you're not sure whether a crown is what you need, that's exactly what the consultation is for. Dr. Stinnet takes a conservative approach. If there's a simpler fix that makes sense, he'll tell you.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Implants

  • Yes. Crowns are color-matched to blend with your surrounding teeth. Most people can't tell the difference once it's placed.

  • With normal care, most crowns last 10 to 15 years or more. Brushing, flossing, and keeping up with regular cleanings are really all it takes.

  • The tooth is numbed before anything happens. Most patients are surprised by how manageable it is. If you have anxiety about dental work, we offer sedation options and can talk through what would make the visit easier for you.

  • Many plans cover crowns when they're medically necessary. Call us and we can help you sort out what your coverage looks like before you commit to anything.
